
In Honor of Bill Evans
We are saddened to hear of the passing of our Life Member William George (Bill) Evans. Bill passed away Monday, November 3rd, 2025 @ the age of 104. He became a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in 1983. A Memorial service will be held on 11 April, 2026.
Born March 22nd, 1921, in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan. He was the Eldest of 5 boys. At the age of 20, Bill joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on April 30, 1941.

Bill met the love of his life, Miss Catherine "Bunty" Leitch, while stationed in Calgary at #3 Service Flying Centre, while learning his trade working on twin-engine aircraft. They were married just before he departed for England in 1943. Together, they moved 7 times over the span of 70 years, ending up on a farm outside of Caroline, AB, in 2004 at the age of 83. Bill and Bunty had 2 daughters, Patricia in 1946 and Glenna in 1949. Resulting in 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Bill wanted to be a salesman, so he started out working for Gutta Percha Rubber Ltd. and ended up as the Western Canada Sales Manager for Uniroyal Rubber Co. Bill joined the Associated Canadian Travelers (ACT) in 1952, eventually being elected the Dominion President from 1969 - 1971.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held for him at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #177 here in Caroline on 11 April 2026.
